ABOUT OMAR

Being a former World Top-25 professional and 13-time PSA Tour title winner, I bring over 20 years of international coaching experience to Club Match Amsterdam.

I have coached players at every level, from top-10 professionals to first-time beginners, combining world-class technical training with a strong focus on mental performance and resilience.

Grounded in modern sport psychology methods such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Self-Determination Theory (SDT), my coaching helps players move better, think clearer under pressure, and rediscover their love for competition.

At Squash101, you don’t just learn to win points; you learn to thrive on and off the court.

Winner of 13 PSA Tour titles and multiple European league championships, including the French, Belgian, British, and Dutch leagues.

Omar holds a CPD-accredited diploma in Sports Nutrition and Strength & Conditioning, allowing him to integrate physical preparation and recovery into each player’s programme.

From as early as I can remember, I’ve been fascinated by how the human body can express

power, precision, and creativity through movement. Growing up, I found myself studying athletes across different sports not just for their results, but for the way they carried themselves, the way they solved problems under pressure, and the subtle efficiency that separates champions from everyone else.

As a squash player, I was shaped by icons like Amr Shabana and Ahmed Barada, whose ability to combine intelligence, fluidity, and control set the standard for what the sport could be. Their influence stayed with me throughout my years on the professional tour and continues to guide my work as a coach today.

My philosophy is simple: great squash is built on self-awareness, purposeful training, and a

deep respect for the craft. I don’t just look at a player’s technique I look at their mindset, their habits, their movement patterns, and the story behind the athlete they want to become. Whether I’m working with ambitious juniors, competitive adults, or professionals, my goal is to help each person grow into a version of themselves that feels authentic, confident, and capable.

Coaching, for me, is not about creating copies of anyone else. It’s about helping players

discover their own rhythm, their own type of strength, and their own path toward excellence.

That journey, individual, challenging, and deeply rewarding is what motivates me every day on court.

COACHING PHILOSOPHY

"For me, squash isn’t just a sport; it’s a mirror. It reflects who you are under pressure, how you think when things go wrong, and how deeply you trust yourself to respond.

After competing all over the world, I’ve learned that the biggest battles in squash aren’t always physical; they’re mental."

Winner of 13 PSA Tour titles and multiple European league championships, including the French, Belgian, British, and Dutch leagues.

I started coaching when I was sixteen, working as an assistant coach in a couple of clubs in

Egypt. Even at that age, I found myself drawn to the process of developing players and helping them understand the game on a deeper level. Many of the juniors I worked with went on to become top ten professional players in the men’s and women’s rankings, with others winning World Junior Championships and British Junior Open titles. What keeps me passionate about coaching today is exactly what excited me back then. Watching people grow, solving problems together, and seeing the small breakthroughs that add up to big change. I believe that discipline and mindset sit at the core of all progress. Whether someone wants to improve at a club level or dreams of becoming the next Dutch champion, the path forward is shaped by how they think and how they show up every day. Obstacles are part of the journey and I make it my job to help players find the lesson in every challenge. My approach is influenced by years inside the Egyptian squash system alongside a broader international perspective built on problem solving.

I use scientific based approaches to support both athletes and people working in high

performance environments. My coaching style is insightful, practical, and forward thinking , and everything I do is aimed at helping players unlock the best version of themselves.
